Your Choice of Timbers PDF Print E-mail

From the rich, deep browns and reds of Jarrah to the blonde tones of Victorian Ash (Tasmanian Oak), Wittmont offers a range of timbers to suit your home, budget and personal taste. Wittmont only uses the finest quality dried timbers to prevent twisting and cracking.

Wittmont’s most popular timbers are Jarrah, Meranti, Victorian Ash (Tasmanian Oak) and (Western Red) Cedar.

As a natural product, some colour and texture variation as well some marks and gum spots are inevitable in our timber. However, as a rough guide, our most common timbers may be described thus:

  • Jarrah – dark red/brown with little to some texture
  • Meranti – dark red/brown to light honey/brown with some to moderate texture
  • Victorian Ash – blonde with some texture
  • Cedar – honey with little texture

Some points to consider: Whilst every care is taken to match boards and create a uniform look across the panel, it is not always possible when working with a natural product. Another point to keep in mind is that timber will change in look after it has been finished, and again with age.
