Wittmont’s external joinery is usually supplied with a single coat of wood oil for on-site protection. However, it is the client’s responsibility to choose and apply the right finishing product. After the initial coat of wood oil is applied by Wittmont the client may chose to either clear finish, stain or paint their joinery. There is a large range of products available but, in general, there are some points to consider when purchasing a finishing product:
Suggested method of clear finishing: In practice, joinery leaves the factory with one protective coat only of Feast Watson Woodshield. We recommend a further two coats of Bondex Wood Stain be applied (sanding before the two coats) to achieve a professional finish. Wittmont can supply tins of Bondex Wood Stain in 750mL, 2.5L or 5L. Note: for timbers susceptible to fungal attack (e.g. Cedar, Victorian Ash etc.) Bondex Fondo is applied in the factory, in place of Feast Watson Woodshield. |
